7 Ways To Prevent/ Manage Body Odour

Body odour is important for everyone to consider because most people who have it do not even know-Except you tell them.

Body odour, also known as Bromhidrosis happens at puberty because of increasing hormones called androgens. While sweat itself is virtually odourless, BACTERIA use it as a breeding ground and multiply rapidly. What you smell is the products related to bacteria breakdown of keratin protein on the surface of your skin.

Body odour is usually associated with the armpits, however bacteria can also produce odour in the groin, anus area, upper thighs, and feet, among other places. Thoroughly washing your skin with a wet washcloth and soap — especially those areas prone to sweating — can help prevent body odour.

If you want to be "odour-free" consider the following tips:
1. Apply an antiperspirant at bedtime. This gives the product a chance to work while you sleep and are not sweating. If you apply antiperspirants after showering in the morning, the sweat you accumulate will wash away the product and render you defenseless against daytime sweating. Remember, deodorants do not prevent sweating. They mainly mask the smell of the sweat on your skin. Antiperspirants are chemical agents that reduce sweating. Many antiperspirant preparations also contain a deodorant, which helps to mask the smell. Check the product you use to make sure it contains an antiperspirant.

2. Keep your underarms dry. Bacteria have a hard time breeding in dry areas of the body.

3. Try a solution of hydrogen peroxide and water to fight body odour. Use 1 teaspoon of peroxide (3%) to 1 cup (8 ounces) of water. Wipe this on affected areas (underarm, feet, groin) with a washcloth. This may help destroy some of the bacteria that creates odour.

4. If sweat from working out is your No. 1 cause of body odour, wash your workout clothes often. Sweaty gym clothes are a bacteria-breeding ground.

5. Change your diet. Sometimes, fatty foods, oils, or strong-smelling foods such as garlic, curry, and onions, can seep through your pores and cause body odour (always see a doctor or dietician before making drastic dietary changes).

6. If you have excessive sweating (called hyperhidrosis), talk to your doctor. There are a few treatment options for those with more severe sweating who desire more aggressive treatments. Also, certain medical problems can lead to excessive sweating. Your doctor can make a diagnosis and prescribe treatment.

7. Shaving your underarm regularly will help prevent the accumulation of bacteria and can reduce sweat and odour.

Causes Of Hair Loss

Surveys say that one of the things that make
people lose their confidence is hair loss. This is
because many people cannot be confident in front
and even around with others knowing that these
people are openly staring into his or her bald spots.

Experts say that hair loss or baldness can be
inevitable to people especially if their families have
a history of it. These people—whose genes came
from older generations who are prone to hair loss—
cannot really do much about it since the condition
runs in their genes. But for those who don't have it
in their genes and still lose so much hair, now is
the time to worry.

WHAT CAUSES HAIR LOSS?
More and more people are becoming prone to hair
loss because they don't pay much attention to the
signs and symptoms of the condition. If you think
you are prone to baldness, the first thing that you
need to check—aside from the family's history of
hair loss—is the number of strands of hair that you
lose in a day.

Although it is quite impossible to keep track to the
exact number of strands, a hundred will be
noticeable if examines closely. Experts say that
losing this amount of hair is normal because new
stands of hair are expected to grow in 12 weeks.

But if the amount is more than this, it is a must to
consider what might cause it.
The following are some of the common causes of
hair loss. Although some of which can be self-
determined, it is always best to consult an expert
because he or she can pinpoint what exactly causes
your baldness.

1. Diseases, illnesses and other medical conditions.
This is one of the most common causes of hair loss.
Diseases such as diabetes, lupus, or those that are
associated with the thyroid glands can affect the
growth and the overall production of hair in the
person's system.

2. Taking in certain medications.
The side effects of certain medications like those of
isotretinoin and lithium and other diet pills that
contain amphetamines are known to cause hair
loss especially among teens. People who are
undergoing chemotherapy sessions to treat cancer
as well as those drugs for gout, depression,
arthritis, and heart problems may trigger baldness.
In women, birth control pills may also be the culprit
for hair loss.

3. Undernourishment or poor nutrition.
People who have insufficient protein and iron in
their bodies will most likely suffer from hair loss.
This is because these two are the most important
component that strengthens the hair to make it
grow. Hair loss due to improper nutrition are more
common among women because they are the ones
who are more into fad and diets which lead to
eating disorders that cause under nutrition.

Experts say that when a person has poor nutrition,
there is not enough supply of nutrients such as
vitamin and minerals to sustain the growth of the
hair.

4. Undergoing medical treatments.
People who have to undergo medical treatments
such as chemotherapy and radiation therapies are
getting more risks in losing their hair because
these treatments can kill the hair from the roots
and may even cause a condition called "alopecia"
that can lead to permanent hair loss.

Other causes of hair loss include hormonal
changes, hair treatments and hairstyling, scalp
infection, "trichotillomania" or hair-pulling
disorder, and disruption of the hair's growth cycle.

Tips for Healthy Eating During Pregnancy

You probably already know how important it is to eat a well-balanced diet, but it is even more important when you are pregnant. Keep in mind now you are eating for two. Whatever you eat, the baby eats as well. In fact the baby actually takes your nourishment so you must eat enough for both of you. The healthier you eat the better it is for the pregnancy and you.

Never miss a meal while you are pregnant, especially breakfast. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and your baby has probably been waiting since he/she woke up in the middle of the night. You may learn that if you wait so long before eating you start to feel sick, this is your body telling you to eat.
Do it!

Make sure you are getting enough of the food you need daily. It takes 4-6 servings of dairy produce a day for a healthy pregnancy, this can include some cheeses, milk, yogurt. This provides the baby with calcium which it'll need to develop healthy growing bones. Adding extra calcium to your diet wouldn't hurt you either, especially your teeth and bones.

Don't forget about your fruit and vegetable servings. Lots of green is always a good choice, so are sweet potatoes. Not only will you be giving your body what it needs but you'll start to have more energy. Try laying off the sweets for a week and replace them with healthier items and see how alive you feel.

FOODS TO AVOID
Not all foods are safe during your pregnancy, there are a few things you should avoid eating:
•Unpasteurized products- brie and other soft. cheeses if unpateurized.
•Certain fish- exotic, shark, swordfish, anything potentially high in mercury
•Raw eggs
•Undercooked meats- lunch meats. If you are buying a deli sandwich you can ask for them to heat the meat up a little.
•Caffeine- soda, chocolate. If you find this difficult you can wean yourself off, but the less caffeine in your system the better it is for the baby.

If you are ever unsure of the foods you can eat, you can ask your doctor for a list of items to avoid during pregnancy. They'll be more than happy to share this with you.

You may also learn that your stomach won't handle certain foods that it would before. Some of those foods may include foods that contain grease, fast foods, meat, and certain foods that have a strong odor.

Eating healthy doesn't mean you have to cut out all the fun in your life, you can still treat yourself from time to time. Go out and get a frozen yogurt or a smoothie.

While you are making sure you get enough to eat throughout the day, that doesn't mean neglecting your fluid intake. You'll need lots of water and juices from here on out. The baby will thank you later. Who knows, you may discover that you really enjoy eating healthier meals and continue it even after the pregnancy.
